hutchinson toro
The Toro is an excellent "all-around" tyre that excels on a variety of terrain and conditions. Biking magazine Singletrack recently called it the best tyre to keep on your bicycle all year around.
Available in a variety of tubed and tubeless versions, the Toro also has "Hardskin" and Race Riposte options. Hardskin is a puncture resistant aramid fabric barrier (breaker) that protects the casing (and the tube) from punctures. Race Riposte is a special compound that grips well yet has excellent wear capabilities. Toro tyres up to 2.3 are two compound treads while 2.3 and wider tyres offer a third harder compound under the tread that helps stabilize the knobs in DH conditions.
Neutral handling tyre benefits tall evenly spaced knobs and Hardskin bead to bead reinforcement
2x2 taller lateral knobs hang on in the corners on a variety of conditions
Lower center knobs that shed mud and still provide excellent traction
Width specific Race Riposte compounds
Well suited to a variety of terrains and conditions
what are we looking at.
The Toro is the iconic tire of the Hutchinson range. It was designed to allow its high knobs to express themselves on all tough terrains. It will be very efficient on wet, muddy and rocky terrains. On the tread, the knobs are lower to optimise performance and facilitate the evacuation of mud.
The knobs are well implanted and will provide good holding, which improves the duration of the tire on journeys that demand more from the equipment. With the steering, it’s a reassuring tire that brings comfort and technical justice. The spaced architecture of the knobs and Hardskin reinforcement will allow you to be at ease on every path. A veritable barrier to puncturing and tearing exists.
The opening of the lateral knobs provides a very effective adhesion. Grip optimisation is there while facilitating the evacuation of any mud encountered.

The Toro is the Extreme tire ! I’m using it on very bad terrains , in the mud and when it’s raining. 2.25 section provides me with a good grip on the sides and an important deformation of the tire. Space between the studs is perfect to ensure the mud evacuation.
